Visual Poetry from Pob Hosking

A surreal collage image of a figure with upside down limbs wearing a large flowing gown, the background is a pink curtained room in space. Text is pasted in the bottom right corner.

To Describe Dreams

purpose and meaning

have long been debated.

finding shapes in

static

language  in

noise,

waking     to describe

dreams.

A large pair of lips wearing red and tan lipstick fills the frame, a pair of hands and a snake are coming out from the mouth. Text flows across the image.

To Sin

Strange are the ways of evil.

IT IS A SIN TO

feel no

regret.

No shame no fear

It is a sin to

know

peace

A collage of maps, old letters, and natural imagery is covered by a central figure, the bust is a vintage nude photograph, the legs down are a colour photograph of an explosion mimicking a flowing skirt.

A Wild Sky

dust settles

Over the soul-snagging land

the sun

slipping softly

one sparkling drop

lingering

nearly perfect

in

a wild sky,

one enormous bruise

A photograph of sand dunes is covered by a figure in a dress who has a image of space instead of a human face, the figure is held by a large pair of open human hands wearing bangles.

This Stranger

“Who is this stranger with the brave

Imagination.

I know the face and I know the voice,

But

The truth

is extraordinarily slippery

A human figure with a skull for a face is spoon feeding a chimpanzee from an old medicine bottle. Large cursive handwritten text fills the background of the image.

Prolonged Delirium

life

is a prolonged delirium

queer and alien.

save me from This

complicated fiction

‘tis grotesque!

A sleeping figure lies under a blanket of quarts crystals, overtop a background of gradient mountain and rockfaces. At the top there is a clock which looks like a building and a small circular painting in front of a night time city scape.

Coming Awake

Coming awake

In the

comfortable hum of

afternoon.

feverishly

tentatively

A colourful Hola Hooper in motion, stands in mid-air, in front of a sky made from a huge crashing wave above a forest scene.

That Uncertain Feeling

I WANT IT NOW

THAT UNCERTAIN FEELING

the placid tenor of life

disrupted

tranquil routine

vividly

disturbed

virtually

challenged
