The Faces We Wear by LadyJay Lomographic
The Faces We Wear
People always seem to think drag queens are one dimensional caricatures, and lacking in any substantive depth.
In my work I love to display the vulnerability, the intimacy, the heart and the care of my subjects, and to see the commonalities between all of us, that connect us.
This series was shot on a cold winter’s night when my dear friend and drag sister Bree Vin Ammyl was getting ready for work. I think what you see is the intimacy of a friendship lasting years, a genuine willingness to display life in its raw unedited detail & how important it is to use the tools around us to create the person and world we desire.
In truth, you see the man become the woman, you see the transformation, and I hope you can pause a minute, reflect, and see the power we all wield as individuals, if we choose to accept it, not just from our transformations, but by showing the world the most authentic aspects of ourselves.
